At The Lake Funeral Home & Crematory, we know that when a family experiences a loss, there are many decisions to be made. At our funeral home, we have a full staff of experienced funeral service professionals who are fully equipped to present all the information needed for a family to make informed, comfortable decisions. From the time the first phone call is received, throughout the service and beyond, each of our staff contributes in an important way. 


 Charlie Wilson

Funeral Director

Charlie has been a funeral director since 1997. He was born and raised in Montana and graduated from high school in Iowa in 1976. He worked for Bell Telephone for 15 years prior to attending mortuary school. 

Charlie attended Kansas City Kansas Community College School of Mortuary Science and graduated in 1995. He worked as a funeral director in Kansas for many years until coming back home to Montana in 2004. He worked at Johnson – Gloschat Funeral Home in Kalispell from 2004 until 2012, and he worked in Missoula at Garden City Funeral Home until moving to Polson.  Charlie joined the staff in December 2013. 

In his spare time Charlie is an avid fly fisherman, enjoys hunting, cooking, bird watching, reading and he enjoys watching high school sports, college and NFL football, and spending time with his family and friends. Charlie is a member of the Montana Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. 




 Ryan Evans

Funeral Director

Ryan R. Evans was born in Havre, MT in 1982. His family moved to Missoula in 1989, he then attended elementary school, middle school, and finished school at Hellgate High school in Missoula, MT. After attending high school he worked for Sunset Memorial Gardens in Missoula as a caretaker of the cemetery. 

In 2010 Ryan moved to Portland, OR where he continued his education and received his Associates degree in Mortuary Science from Mt. Hood Community College in 2012. Ryan then moved back to Montana to work for his family's business. 

He enjoys Montana for all the mountains, water, and great people the state has to offer. He truly loves snowboarding in the winter and spending time in the summer at the family cabin on the Little Bitteroot Lake.





 Ryan Avison

Funeral Director

Ryan began working with the staff in 2008. He is educated in both Human Services and Psychology and graduated from the Funeral Service Education program at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon.

Ryan and his wife live in Polson and Ryan has three sons.







 Fred Nelson

Funeral Director

Fred Nelson has been in and around funeral service for over 40 years. He graduated from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science and was licensed in Idaho in 1966, and in Montana in 1975.

Fred is a member of the Washington Cemetery and Funeral Association, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ronan, and a member of the Ronan Chamber of Commerce. 

Fred and his wife Sherry have two grown daughters and three grandsons.

Fred is a member of the Montana Funeral Directors Association and of the National Funeral Directors Association.





 Kim Congdon

Office Assistant and Pre-planning Specialist

Kim began working with the staff at the funeral home in 2011.

Kim was born in Glendive, MT and graduated from Dawson County High School. Kim earned her AA degree from Dawson Community College in Glendive and went on 
to graduate from MSU-Billings with a degree in Business. She married Rob in 1992 and they have two children, Hayden and Marlee. Kim and her family moved from Billings to Polson in 2004. 

Kim has volunteered over the years coaching soccer, softball, and basketball and spent 3 years on the baseball board. Kim loves spending time with her family and most of all, enjoys watching her children's sporting events.
